Changing doctors...again
So, it looks like my current ob and perinatologist (peri) are not going to work out. I guess in the area I live in there's some crazy monopoly on which peris can delivery. My current peri is not able to deliver, so right now I'm seeing both and ob and peri. I really love my peri, but the only ob in the area that would agreed to take on triplets is also pregnant. So at my last appointment, my peri suggested I call the peri specialist in Long Beach, who also does deliveries, for a consultation. He said he talked to my ob and she was willing to take on a triplet delivery, but that the other obs in her practice don't feel comfortable with triplets. If anything were to happen unexpectedly, I may not be able to rely on my current peri who is giving birth in Aug. I really don't want to take a risk with an ob that is not comfortable or experienced with triplets. So, long story short (too late), we are switching to a peri in Long Beach who will also be the one delivering. He is also the same peri who trained my current peri which makes me confident in his experience. We really wanted to be able to delivery close to home, but the health of the babies is most important. Long Beach is about 30 minutes away... as long the 405 cooperates and I don't hit traffic. Our first appointment with our new peri is on June 16th. Hopefully this will be the last switch we have to make!

I think you are making the right decision and not going to an OB b/c even if they say they have experience with multiples, triplets are so much more.
ReplyDeleteOur peri is downtown and it takes us about 30 minutes to get there (as long as traffic is OK). My biggest fear is that I will go into labor and it will be rush hour :)
