Wow, it's been a month...

Wow, it's been a month since my last post... it's been quite a whirlwind of a month to say the least. I'm so sorry for not updating sooner, but since I went back to work I've been extremely busy catching up from being off for 3 weeks. I'm going to try to be a better blogger... only a month and a half until school's out!

Going back a few weeks... I had my u/s as planned. We were initially very surprised when we were told we were having twins, so imagine our shock when we heard the words, "Wait... how many did we transfer?... I see a third sack!" It's triplets!!!

Although we did transfer 3 embryos, we were given very low chances that all 3 would implant. My RE's response was the oxymoron of the year, he said, "well, it looks like you're a very fertile infertile!" I think my dh is still in shock. We've had a couple of u/s since our first, and all have shown the babies right on track. Last week we were able to hear the heartbeats... it was amazing! "Baby A" even squirmed around a little when my RE zoomed in. I have another appointment this afternoon, and I can't wait to see my babies again. My RE recommended a perinatologist in the area; my first appointment is on May 26th. I've heard great things about him, and was happy to read that he helped to develop the new NICU at the hospital where I will most likely be giving birth.

Besides feeling exhausted, I've been feeling pretty good lately. I had pretty bad morning sickness from about week 5 - week 8. But now (knock on wood), it seems to be in check. As long as I'm constantly eating every hour or so, I'm ok. It hasn't been difficult because I'm constantly hungry. The only problem is that very few things sound appetizing to me. I'm having aversions to pretty much all seasonings, so I've been eating very bland foods. My staples lately have been: hard boiled eggs; chicken salad; egg salad; nuts; fruit, fruit, and more fruit; ensure protein drinks, salty foods (but I trying to keep it healthy), gatorade, juice, and vitamin water. I am also guilty of "making a run for the border" at Taco Bell on my way home from work on occasion.

We haven't told too many people yet. I've really been trying to wait til I'm 12 weeks to spill the beans, but with triplets it's getting really hard to hide my belly. I've been trying to wear sweaters and blousy shirts, but yesterday I noticed one of my 7th grade students looking at my belly during 4th period. Sure enough, at the beginning of 5th period one of her friends asked me point blank before class if I was pregnant. I told myself I wasn't going to deny it if any one asked, so now my students know. They were all very sweet about it; I even got a few offers for babysitters, and one girl asked if they could throw me a shower.

I'm hoping all goes well at my appt today, and right after I see that all my babies are healthy, I'm praying that my RE says that my P4 levels look great and I can stop PIO injections. He originally told us I would stop PIO around 10 weeks, so I'm hoping that my 9 weeks 4 days is close enough. Today my dh hit a vein, it was pretty painful and a bleeder - I'm ready to be done!
